I was 53 years old when I contacted Dr. Uggen about my right hip. My hip had deteriorated due to arthritis and needed replacing. After doing some research on my own, I discovered Dr. Uggen is one of the few doctors who practice the anterior approach which can reduce recovery time. I could not be happier with the outcome of my surgery. There was no pain and I was walking with assistance just a few hours after surgery. Dr. Uggen & his staff are outstanding! He was on target with his approach to caring for my fractured foot, There were no unrealistic expectations set. Found Dr. Uggen on the channel 6 news special on hip replacement. I had been going to Ortho West in Council Bluffs Ia and wasn't happy w/my out come. Dr. Uggen did my surgery 6/16/-15 of last year. My surgery started at 8am and I was walking w/o pain at 3pm, the next day I went home. The only pain was the IV needles going in and the bandage on my leg coming off...He is AMAZING!!!

Dr Uggen is an excellent Orthopedic Dr and is very knowledgable and confident. He is skilled in the latest techniques and has many differing approaches to each patient's needs. He takes the time to explain any diagnoses with the patient and involves them heavily in the decision making process as to approach and treatment. He is a very committed and inspiring physician. I just had my 4 week follow up Dr. Uggen for my hip surgery. This experience with Dr. Uggen, Mindy the PA and the entire staff has been tremendous. I was impressed at the start as Dr. wanted to make sure that surgery was truly needed and that other options were available. The MRI revealed the need for total hip replacement so we proceeded. I am so impressed with ALL the actions and the steps along the way. Jon and his staff NEVER seemed to be hurried. They listened to all our questions and provided detailed answers.
